Jell-O Pudding Pops

Welcome to what I like to call my first official craving. Though, I like to think that I wasn't psychotic about it the way that you may read that some women are with pregnancy cravings. I just really really wanted some. It was Sunday morning and I don't know what made them come in to my head, but they did, and I could almost taste their icy creamy goodness. Then I had a chuckle recalling good ol' Bill Cosby and his advertisements for "Puddin' Pops!" Though, try as I might I couldn't do a proper impression.

I wondered to myself whether I would even be able to find this delicious treat that I recalled from my childhood. Did they even still make Pudding Pops? I didn't want to head to the store and in a fit of rage demand of some cranky acne prone teenager that he find this poor pregnant woman some damn pudding pops. 1) He might just think I was a loon, since I'm not yet obviously pregnant. 2) Pudding pops might be before his time and he might not realize how his childhood could have suffered without them. So, I did what any proper nerd would do and made Bill (because he was closer to the computer) do a Google search for Jello pudding pops. The results? Score! They're currently sold under the Popsicle brand. Apparently, they were discontinued by Kraft at some point and then were reintroduced to the market in 2004 under the new brand. Hmm, I was a bit skeptical. Would they be the same?

It was like torture when I went to the grocery store. I wanted to run to the freezer aisle to see if they had my precious pops, but I resisted because no one wants melted pops. I probably completed the rest of the shopping in record time just so I could get there faster. Then, there they were and in to my cart they went - sweet! It took much discipline when I returned home to not rip open the box and eat one right then. I was good and waited until after dinner. I have to say, while it was good it wasn't quite the same. First off, the shape is different. It's not flatish, but now is more typical popsicle shape. Secondly, that nice icy crust that would build up on the outside of the pop wasn't up to par. The flavor was good though and all in all they satisfied my craving. They will do for now.
