Welcome to our blog

I feel a little bit naughty writing this blog entry as we haven't yet told anyone that I'm knocked up. That said, I really wanted to start chronicling our gestating journey from the beginning. So, here goes nothing.

I suppose the best place to start is with how our blog got its name. Bill (the Baby Daddy) is a big nerd. I love him dearly, but he often says things like "taste steel luremaster" and when I yell upstairs to tell him his dinner is getting cold I often get "just a minute, I gotta finish this level so that I can save" in response. Don't know what that implies? Well in sum, he loves RPG video games. What does this have to do with anything, you ask? I never have been able to tell a short story, but I promise it's important.

When I thought I might be pregnant, I started thinking of fun ways in which I might tell Bill. After some brainstorming and some searching of the interweb, I found a baby onesie that I thought would be the perfect way to convey the message.

So, I ordered it in all it's nerdy glory hoping that I wasn't jinxing myself. I had it sent to me at my work address, so he had no idea.

In the morning on Wednesday, December 5th I was able to confirm that I was pregnant with a pee stick. When I think back on it, testing in the morning was a bad idea. It meant that I had to keep it a secret ALL DAY LONG! It was torture. We don't keep secrets or surprises from each other well at all. However, I was able to sneak the onesie home with me, and then wrap it in a shirt box all unbeknown to Bill. After dinner I told him that maybe he should open just one of his Christmas presents super early. He resisted ruining the surprise of Christmas, but I insisted. He figured that it was a shirt for him, and when he opened the box he still thought that until he pulled it out of the box and realized how tiny it was. Then he stared at it puzzled and asked what it was for. I told him "It's for a baby." He looked at it some more, still a bit confused and then I said "you knocked me up." He had it figured out at that point and we were all giddy and excited and hugged and all of that garbage.

There you have it - the story behind our blog title.

I've always sucked at keeping any kind of journal, but I am going to try my darnedest to make updates on a regular basis. If I start being a slacker, feel free to poke with with hot jabby things, or maybe just send me an email.
