doctors schmoctors

I planned on having picked an OB/GYN a long time ago, but when our PCP was able to perform my annual lady exam I slacked on my research and am now having to make up my mind quickly.

There is a local hospital that seems to fit our needs and is covered by our insurance. We'd really rather not have to navigate through the crazy streets of Boston and since I am young and in good health, I shouldn't be in the "high risk" category of pregnancies and this hospital should have everything we need. When I called our PCP as a starting point they didn't need to confirm my pregnancy since home pregnancy tests are so reliable. So, they told me to make sure I was taking folic acid, gave me a list of doctors they typically work with, and sent me on my way. The list is basically the same as what I had found through my insurance's provider finder. All of the doctors are accredited, none of them have any malpractice claims against them or any other disciplinary action taken against them. So, how ever do I chose? I have a good number of friends in the area, but none who have kids, and I'm not ready to out myself at work yet to be able to ask around there. I feel as if I'm playing a big game of eenie meenie mynie moe. I hate picking doctors.

I think I have narrowed it down to two practices. So, my next step is to call the offices and try to get some insight about the practices' care philosophies.

This sucks!
