7 weeks

Well, another week has passed and I have no new symptoms to report. I have fortunately not had any morning sickness or even general nausea. The only exception was the the regret of eating too many Christmas cookies in a row. I haven't even had any weird cravings or food aversions. I guess this is a good thing, but wouldn't it be fun to taunt this kid with "you made mommy eat blueberries coated in mayonnaise. No wonder you turned out this way."

Our trusty email reports that our peanut had a bit of a growth spurt this week and is growing into an ever lovable alien looking being:

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs although they look more like paddles at this point. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tail bone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

My follow up ultrasound is scheduled for Monday, and maybe this time I'll get to see what's going on in there for myself. Yippee!
