My dear friend Aileen and her long time boyfriend, Scott, recently got engaged - Congrats again guys! While home for a few days, Aileen's parents hosted a sort-of engagement party for them so that their friends would be able to meet Scott. Bill wasn't able to come with me, but I went over to their house in the early evening. A couple my other friends also came. While we were sitting around chatting, Aileen asked me if we knew a billion people who were pregnant right now, because they knew about 5 friends who were. Part of me really wanted to shout out, "add a 6th one to your list," but I resisted and just smiled and said "No, not really."
The plan was to head out to a local bar afterwards, and I was worried about faking them out. I had schemed in my mind about ordering my drink separately and conspiring with the bartender to get a virgin rum and coke. However, when we got there I was feeling lazy and as if I might not be able to be so stealth. So, I opted not to have anything instead. It wasn't a big deal.
It's a good thing I'm not a lush, or I would have been found out for sure.
