I had my first visit with a bona fide doctor yesterday. After my first office visit with the nurse I was looking forward to meeting one of the doctors at this visit. My practice has you rotate through each of the doctors in the practice (there are 3) so that you will have met them all by the time you deliver. I was particularly looking forward to the visit because this doctor's name is Dr. Bond, not only is her name Dr. Bond, but Dr. Jamie Bond. Had I thought that she hadn't heard the joke before, I would have razzed her a bit, but I'm sure other witty patients have run it in to the ground already. Dr. Bond didn't seem as if she doubles as a secret agent, but rather was very nice and had a comforting tone about her voice. Wait, maybe that's one of her secret spy talents.
Either way, she seems to be a competent doctor. We did the regular routine checkup stuff and then she checked for the baby's heartbeat with a wandy thing on my belly. When she couldn't find it, which can happen about 20% of the time, I was sent in to one of the ultrasound rooms to have a peak at Stumps. The ultrasounds tech found the heartbeat fairly quickly and I got to see our little lime sized baby. It was hanging out all scrunched up so she couldn't get a great looking shot to send me home with, but we could hear and see the heartbeat just fine.
When I get a chance to take a picture of the ultrasound image I did get, I'll add it here, but be fair warned that it looks even less baby-like than the last one.
