8 weeks

I think I may have had my first bout of nausea, though I'm not sure. It could have just been a bad day. I don't think it's fair that I can't tell whether what I'm experiencing is a day of being sick or a pregnancy symptom. I had a horrible headache and on and off queasiness all day on New Year's day. Now, if I had been up drinking on New Year's Eve I would have a solid explanation, but nope, I was chumped out by 10 and didn't even get to see how not well Dick Clark is. Since things have been fairly normal since, I am going to chalk it up to a crapass day for now, but don't hold me to it.

One new bit of joy that I have had the pleasure of experiencing comes from my sniffer. My nose seems to have gotten more sensitive to certain smells and they nearly send me into a fit of angry rage. Ask Bill about the night that he had a rum drink. I could smell it half way across the room and demanded he either leave or remove his drink from my presence. It was awful and offensive to me. Poor Bill.

On the baby development front, our blueberry has morphed into a kidney bean and maybe, just maybe, is a bit less stumpy than when I saw it on the ultrasound.

Email excerpt:
Your baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. His arms have lengthened, too, and his hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart. His knee joints have formed, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.
