Happy Mother's Day, or not.

I'm giving Bill crap about not acknowledging Mother's Day for me, but the truth is that I don't really count it either. I mean, I haven't even had to change a single shitty diaper of this baby's yet, and given that this pregnancy has been pretty easy I haven't done anything noble enough to warrant a gift or piece of card stock sanctioned by Hallmark. So, I'm not terribly disgruntled, but it's fun to pick on him anyway.

This weekend was full of things we did to prepare for the baby. We attended a cloth diapering workshop on Saturday and it was highly informative. I really didn't think that it was possible for one to learn about diapers for 2 and half hours and not want to jab sharp objects in one's eye, but we made it through unscathed and left pretty excited about our choice to use cloth diapers. We even got a chance to try some out (yes, Bill did too). Stumps will be the cutest baby on the block with a fluffy cloth covered bum.

We also picked out a glider for the baby's room. It looks like a regular old upholstered chair, but has a gliding mechanism and swivels as well. We narrowed down the fabric and color choices and think we'll go with a nice red twill. We haven't ordered it yet, because my neurosis requires that I price shop it, but hopefully we'll decide for sure soon. I think it will be a great place to feed and snuggle with the baby.

It felt good to get this decision out of the way and also helped to inspire some other decorating choices. I bought a rug, and I picked up some paint chips today. So, now I'm on the hunt for some fabric to make some window panels and a crib skirt. To bring things back around to Mother's Day again, while I was out shopping today I was wished a Happy Mother's day on more than one occasion by separate cashiers. So, neiner neiner neiner, Bill!
