Or something like that. I just had an 'oh, shit!' moment when I just looked at the baby count down ticker to the right. It says that we only have 99 days left until the baby's due date. I can't believe how quickly time has past. I will soon be into my 3rd trimester and there is so much left to do.
Today I had my first appointment with Robyn, the midwife to whom I switched my care. When we attended a 'Meet the Midwives' session several weeks ago she was my favorite of the group. So, I'm glad to be working with her. We spent some time going over my history and doing the routine things that you do when you go in for prenatal care, but I really liked her personality and openness about everything. I asked her about my latest talent, er, symptom. Bill has the lovely privilege of periodically getting serenaded in the middle of the night by my nasal symphonies. He was concerned, since I didn't used snore loud enough the wake the dead. The preliminary research I had done indicated it was in the realm of normal, but I figured the midwife could help ease our minds further. She did confirm that increased blood flow in the nasal passage and increased progesterone are the cause and it's completely normal. Poor Bill.
Beyond what I used to have done (pee, weigh-in, blood pressure, baby's heartbeat) at my old practice, she felt my belly and determined that the baby was head down with its back towards my front. She also measured my uterus (by measuring my belly) and determined that I was measuring a couple of weeks ahead. She said that it doesn't necessarily mean I will deliver early or that the baby will be big, but it's interesting to know.
My next appointment will be in a couple of weeks at which point I will have to down a delicious orange glucose drink so that they can test me for gestational diabetes. I can't say I'm excited about it, but I guess I have to do it.
Up next we'll be on the hunt for a childbirth class, and a pediatrician. Can we rewind a bit? I think I need some more time.
