Anatomy Scan and other news

I'm trying hard not to be a blog slacker again, but it seems as if I can't catch a break in the 'sick' department. I have some kind of infection that has been causing radiating ridiculous pain in my teeth. It's been so bad that I have gotten crap for sleep the past several nights. My dentist is fabulous though and has been following up with several specialists to make sure that we take care of the root of the problem (some pun intended). In the meantime the antibiotics seem to be helping and maybe tonight I will be able to sleep through the night without waking (except maybe to pee). Maybe this is the world's way of preparing me for the sleep deprivation that comes with having a baby.

In my last update I forgot to report that we got the final results from our first trimester screening (NT Scan) and follow up bloodwork. The baby has 1/50,000 chance of Downs , which is the 'best' result they give. The results were negative for nueral tube defects and negative for Trisomy 18 (another chromosomal disorder). When I got the message I wanted to send a "way to go" card to Stumps. I felt as if the baby just aced a test and deserved a gold star.

Yesterday we went in for the baby's anatomy scan. It was neat to see how much the baby has grown. It looks even more baby like now, and we could see the spine, and skull and bones, and fingers and toes. The tech navigated around and took lots of pictures and measurements. I go in again next week for a follow up ultrasound since the tech wasn't able to get the measurements needed of the baby's heart chambers. She could see them and they looked good, but she wasn't able to get the measurement needed due to the baby's position. So, I get another free baby show next week - hooray!

I have a new profile picture of the baby's head which I will upload when I get a chance. Stay tuned.
